THE MOOSEHEAD LEGACY COMES FULL CIRCLE: BREWERY ANNOUNCES FINAL RELEASE IN SMALL BATCH ‘FAMILY SERIES’
Andrew & Patrick’s Session IPA is now available across New Brunswick and PEI
September 23, 2024, [Saint John, NB] – Moosehead has announced the release of Andrew & Patrick's Session IPA, the sixth and final beer in the brewery’s Small Batch Family Series. The new brew was crafted in honour of Andrew and Patrick Oland, who are the sixth generation of Olands to lead the Saint John-based company.
Andrew Oland, current President and CEO of Moosehead Breweries, and Patrick Oland, the company’s Chief Financial Officer, are the great-great-great grandsons of the brewery’s founder, Susannah Oland. Susannah’s reimagined Brown Ale, released in 2019 in Susannah’s honour, was the inaugural beer in Moosehead’s Family Series.
Andrew & Patrick's Session IPA celebrates the legacy these two brothers are building and, more specifically, the balance they’ve achieved in driving innovation and modernization at Moosehead, while honouring the unique history and heritage of the 157-year-old brewery.
“Our Family Series has taken us on a journey through the history of Moosehead, and it’s incredible to wrap up this story with Andrew and Patrick’s Session IPA,” says Trevor Grant, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Moosehead Breweries. “In the face of unbelievable pressures, Andrew and Patrick have maintained an unwavering commitment to never selling out, and to claiming their rightful place as Canadian brewing leaders. Their impact on Moosehead, and on the province of New Brunswick, is truly immeasurable.
With a balanced 4.7% ABV and 54 IBU, Andrew and Patrick’s Session IPA delivers vibrant citrus, tropical, and stone fruit flavors—crafted for those who appreciate quality and legacy.
Over the past five years, the Small Batch Family Series has celebrated the individual legacies of the six generations of Olands who have led Moosehead Breweries. Each beer has highlighted a core value of both the family, and the company.
- 2019: Susannah’s Brown Ale. Inspired by the original recipe brewed by Susannah Oland, Moosehead’s founder and matriarch, this ale celebrated Susannah’s pioneering spirit.
- 2020: George W.C.’s Pale Mild. A tribute to George W.C. Oland, who vowed to rebuild Moosehead after the 1917 Halifax Explosion. This Pale Mild was a testament to George’s unwavering perseverance.
- 2021: George B.’s English Porter. Honouring the legacy of George B. Oland, who introduced the iconic moose to the Moosehead label in 1933. This porter embodied the strength and independence symbolized by both the moose, and George himself.
- 2022: P.W.’s Czech Pilsner. This pilsner paid homage to P.W., a visionary who transformed Canadian beer culture by introducing what we now know as Alpine Lager, leaving behind a lasting legacy of innovation.
- 2023: Derek’s Single Hop American IPA. A salute to Andrew and Patrick’s father, Derek Oland, whose courageous expansion into the U.S. market in 1973 exemplified the entrepreneurial spirit of the Moosehead organization.
Andrew & Patrick’s Session IPA is now available in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
